Junior RNCM
An Honours Graduate of the University of Sheffield, and a postgraduate of RNCM , Simon has been a tutor at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music JRNCM, since 1991, providing academic support for GCSE, A level, preparation for ABRSM Aural, and Keyboard Harmony. Organ Tutor since 1993 – Simon prepares students for ABRSM Grade and Diploma Exams. Simon's students regularly go on to Organ Scholarships at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, many cathedrals, and conservatoires.
Director of Vocal Ensemble since 2012; a choir of 65 students, aged 11 to 19, has performed works by Mozart, Bach, Bizet, Fauré, Duruflé, Copland, Barber, Bernstein, Lauridsen, Whittaker and many others.

25 years as a Teacher of Music in 3 schools and a 6th Form College from 1989 – 2014. 20 years as Head of Department. Taught at KS3, KS4, KS5 for GCSE and A level. Also taught A level Music Technology, AVCE, GNVQ and NVQ Performing Arts.

Simon teaches the Organ and Piano at The Manchester Grammar School where he is also the school organist.
He is also the school organist at Withington Girls’ School. He is the Brass and Piano Teacher at Greenbank School, Cheadle Hulme.
Simon retains a part-time position at The King’s School in Macclesfield, and is on the staff accompaniment team at Stockport Grammar School.
ABRSM Examiner
Simon joined examiner panel ofThe Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, ABRSM, in 2002. This is a registered charity based in London, UK, which provides examinations in music at centres in Britain and around the world. Simon travels extensively as an ABRSM examiner and looks forward to returning to the Far East.
Adjudicator
Simon is a Freelance Adjudicator for Festivals and Competitions. He is highly respected for his professional and efficient work in this field offering impartial expertise and guidance to all performers and competitors alike. He has adjudicated for the Buxton Festival, Manchester ISM Competitions, Wrekin College and Stockport Grammar School Music Competitions and for the Chester Music Society Young Musician of the Year.
Engagements
Simon is a very active teacher in the South Manchester area for the organ, piano, trumpet, singing, including aural and theory - all from beginner to Diploma level.
Simon is available for a wide variety of performing engagements, recordings, for preparation for examinations, or for special events.
