Simon is a much sought after inspirational Tutor, Examiner, Adjudicator, Conductor and Organist.
Teaching posts include: Organ Tutor at Junior RNCM; Accredited Teacher for the Royal College of Organists; School Organist, Organ and Piano Tutor at The Manchester Grammar School; School Organist at Withington High School and Piano and Brass Teacher at Greenbank School.
He is a National and International Examiner for ABRSM; the Music Education Consultant for Paradigm Trust; Freelance Festival and Competition Adjudicator; Organist and Répétiteur; Director of the JRNCM Vocal Ensemble and Musical Director of Hayfield Singers.
Simon is also an experienced trumpet teacher and player.
Simon is available for engagements as conductor, adjudicator, consultant, répétiteur, tutor and organist - or simply to provide informal advice.

History
Originally from Sussex, Simon studied organ with Alan Thurlow at Chichester Cathedral and trumpet with Crispian Steele-Perkins in London. Simon moved north to the University of Sheffield for the Degree of BMus (Hons), continuing his organ studies with Graham Matthews at Sheffield Cathedral. He directed many of the University’s Orchestras, Ensembles and Choirs. Simon continued with RNCM Postgraduate studies; organ with Eric Chadwick, Ronald Frost and Gillian Weir and harpsichord with David Francis. Postgraduate research into The Victorian Organ in Sheffield.
Simon has held numerous influential musical posts in the South Manchester area, concluding his 25 years in schools as Director of Music at the King’s School in Macclesfield. He is a highly respected freelance musician and is now much in demand as an inspirational teacher, mentor, adjudicator, and conductor.
Simon became an Examiner for ABRSM in 2002 and has been the Organ Tutor and an Academic Tutor at Junior RNCM since the early 1990’s; he is also Director of the JRNCM Vocal Ensemble. He guest conducted the RNCM Symphony Chorus in 2015 in Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, and in the British Premier of Penderecki’s 7th Symphony, conducted by the composer, at the Bridgewater Hall. Simon was the Founding Director of the then unique “Hallé Choral Academy” in September 2014. This choir now continues as part of the Hallé Community Education and Outreach Programme, building the skills and confidence of choral singers.
The Royal College of Organists Academy appointed Simon as an Accredited Teacher in March 2015; 30 hand-picked and highly experienced organists giving individual and group tuition to aspiring players of all ages and standards.
He has given Organ Recitals in the cathedrals in Arundel, Blackburn, Chichester, Dunkeld, Sheffield, Vienna, and at Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland.
